Ras Plant Based Brings Ethiopian Classics to Crown Heights

Ras Plant Based is a savory option for those who enjoy Ethiopian food

If you are looking for some of the best Ethiopian dishes in Brooklyn you have to give Ras Plant Based a try. Ras Plant Based is a vibrant addition to the row of apartments and eateries that line the streets of Franklin Avenue in Brooklyn, New York. Inside you will find art filled walls in a space that feels cozy and inviting. Ras Plant Based is an organic farm to table eatery offering authentic Ethiopian food.

Mercato, a spicy platter served with rice, a mix of vegetables and stews
Mercato served with rice

Every dish is a platter that can be shared with friends or eaten solo

First we started with the vegetable sambusas. These small bites are covered in a flaky shell and filled with vegetables or lentils. Most noteworthy are the platters. Platters that are accompanied with injera are meant for you to dig in, get your hands a little dirty and sup up the hearty stews and veggies. Equally as tasty are the platters served with rice (this is usually my preference). In any event, the Mercato makes for some of the best Ethiopian food in Brooklyn. Of the two platters offered on the menu the Mercato packs a spicy punch. Nevertheless, no matter what you choose you will find a mix of colorful varieties with a deeply rich flavor on your plate.

Perhaps equally important to the food served was the lively atmosphere. Not to mention drinks infused with flavors of pineapple, passionfruit and coconut.

Some of the best Ethiopian food in Brooklyn comes with an additional price — it can be difficult to get a table. You can skip the line by making a reservation ahead of time. They also offer take out options if you prefer to dine in the comfort of your home.

Live abundantly,

Bethany
