Why Sofitel Mexico City Reforma?
I can’t emphasize enough how much I enjoyed my time at Sofitel Mexico City Reforma. When I started my search for hotels, I came across a few attractive options. Sofitel, however, stuck out to me as it was recently opened in 2019 and has made quite the name for itself. One of their signature restaurants, Bajel, directed by Chef Alonso Vidal, was featured in the first edition of the Michelin Guide in Mexico. The design of the building preserves the historic architecture while also incorporating modern design. And after visiting the spa with in house L’Occitane products, I see why it is known as the best spa in Mexico City.
Nestled on the vibrant street of Paseo de la Reforma, this hotel is a relaxing oasis attracting both locals and visitors alike. The hotel is located just steps away from the Angel of Independence and Castle of Chapultepec making it accessible to the rich Mexican history. I was fortunate to have a room with a beautiful view of the Angel of Independence monument. The style and design of the property reflect the French influence that is observed in the neighborhood. The French style in the hotel design and staff is prominent; while being complimentary to the similarities between the Paseo de la Reforma and Champs-Élysées in Paris.

Amenities
- Bars
- Restaurants
- Spa
- Wifi
Everything you need in one place. I enjoyed not having to go far to indulge in my favorite therapeutic experiences. Not too mention, the free wifi for all guests was a nice addition.
Look at this pool. Need I say anything else? This entire hotel is filled with spaces that offer great views of Mexico City and the pool room is no exception. The floor to ceiling windows created a sort of visual infinity pool effect. You know that you are indoors, but the views are so grand that it actually feels like you are outdoors.
The gym was just the right size for me to partake in my usual exercise routine. Even with the size of the gym, it wasn’t crowded during the times I visited. I would encourage, however, to be mindful of how much physical activity you engage in while in Mexico City. Due to the high altitude of the city (7,350 ft), there is less oxygen available. You may want to give your body time to acclimate to the altitude and avoid intense exercise.
Food and Drink
Every meal I had at Sofitel Mexico City Reforma was flavorful and well prepared. I have a bit of a sweet tooth but there is definitely something for everyone.
Service
The hotel’s staff provided impeccable service. They were timely, thoughtful and patient. When it came to transportation, they were extremely helpful in assisting with scheduling after our flight was delayed multiple times. They assisted with everything from navigating reservations at the best restaurants to booking museum visits.
Final Thoughts
When it comes to luxury, Sofitel Mexico City Reforma is high on my list. Staying at this hotel was a great way to spend my birthday weekend and experience my first time in Mexico City. I am glad I decided to spend a few days in the hotel so that I can experience everything the space has to offer. And yet, the location of the hotel is ideal for visiting many of Mexico City’s popular shopping stores, museums and restaurants. At Sofitel Mexico City Reforma, you don’t have to choose — sophistication and pleasure go hand in hand.
Live abundantly,
Bethany
