Is it me or was everyone in Greece last summer? I mean, it makes sense right – where is the first place you daydreamed of visiting back when it felt like we may never get a chance to travel again? Greece, more specifically Mykonos and Santorini. So picture this, its summer of 2021 and travel is completely different but Greece is still as breathtaking as the images saved on your Pinterest mood board.
Greece was a birthday trip that turned into a week of self reflection. I walked the white cobblestone streets of Mykonos and had amazing food over lush views, but what Greece truly gave me was renewed perspective. I asked myself: What do I want this new year to look like and am I actively in pursuit of that life?
I decided that I was going to create a life I craved. This meant slower mornings with more time for prayer, memorable evenings with lots of photos, and patience with myself as I navigated the wins, losses and everything in between. During my stay in Santorini I decided to do something that was completely about me, a memorable moment. I booked a photoshoot with the infamous Santorini Dress company. They offer the most picturesque photo experience in Greece. They also offer this experience in a few other locations like Dubai, Italy and Mexico.
My entire experience with the photographer and staff was beyond exceptional. Initially however, I experienced a bit of sticker shock when I was booking the photoshoot. I thought about saving this moment for a more deserving or grand occasion. Then I realized that another birthday is enough of a grand occasion.
Looking back at these photos I am so glad that I decided to book this photoshoot. Sometimes we are at the edge of greatness. We may be only a few steps away but fear, finances, doubt, shame are holding us back. I struggle in these areas all the time and I maintain that all these issues can be managed and have solutions. While I climbed on ledges and scaled roofs for the perfect shot I remember being so worried about falling. But what if, like the dress in these photos, that instead of falling you actually learn to fly.
