Superhero or goddess? Here’s how to find the perfect cape wedding guest dress.
Every year I look forward to attending the weddings of my family and friends. Whether I am in the wedding or attending as a guest, I enjoy celebrating love. And in my eyes, no celebration is truly complete without the right outfit.

Recently I felt inspired to steer away from the usual wedding guest outfits and try a style I’ve never worn before. I’ve seen cape dresses a few times but never saw any that I thought suited me. I was worried that the cape wouldn’t sit on my shoulders correctly or that the length would be too long. And since I would be wearing this dress to a wedding, I didn’t want a cape too similar to that of a veil or train the bride might wear. Finally, while I appreciate the drama of a cape, I didn’t want one so dramatic it felt reminiscent of Batman fighting crime in Gotham City.

Even with all of those considerations, after a few days of searching, I found the perfect cape dress. The color, design and length of this Club L London dress more than satisfied my criteria. The dress was perfect on it own, only requiring a pair of statement earrings and heels to complete the look. I opted for my comfortable, clear heeled sandals from Schutz for a guaranteed night of dancing.

What I love most about this dress:
- Asymmetrical cape design
- Floor length
- Draping at the hips
- Color appears more teal than green (which was perfect for me!)

The best part about cape dresses are its versatility for weddings during the warmer or cooler months. The cape provides extra coverage that acts as a shawl, thus keeping your warm. Recently I realized I have a lot of dresses for spring and summer weddings, while not as many for fall and winter. With this purchase I now have a dazzling option for formal events occurring later this year.

I hope this post encourages you to try a cape dress in the future. Personally, I felt like a goddess all night. I am so eager to style this dress again. Stay tuned for more wedding guest outfit inspiration!
Live abundantly,
Bethany
