My summer wardrobe has included many statement pieces by Kai Collective this year. It has been a Kai summer and the evidence is all over socials. After owner, Fisayo Longe, posted a picture of herself in the white Adesuwa dress, it quickly generated buzz that would soon result in a 4 figure waitlist. It was amazing to watch in real time. This summer dress became the dress of the summer.

White dresses have long been my go-to for summer, but this isn’t just another white dress. This dress is exquisite. The ruched waist is my favorite element of the dress. I have an affinity for pieces that bring in the waist with the right amount of detailing. Made from cotton, this dress moves with you creating the perfect amount of motion for an ideal summer dress. With my height (5’6″), the dress is pretty close to floor length. I was able to wear flat sneakers without the dress dragging on the floor. And the best part is the POCKETS. Yes this dress has pockets, making this piece fabulous and functional.
The long Adesuwa retails for $336 with the mini Adesuwa retailing at $249. Right now everything on the site is 20% off, including these best sellers, to celebrate 8 years of Kai Collective. Adesuwa can be worn for all occasions in your life — from weddings and graduations to brunches and weekend trips. The versatility is unmatched. Needless to say, if you are considering purchasing this piece now is your chance.

I was following Adesuwa from its early moments on Instagram.
Within minutes of receiving the pre-order notification through my email, I made my purchase. I was so excited to get my hands on this dress. Based on the delivery schedule I was confident that I would receive the dress before my birthday. I felt like I was on top of the world, I secured one of the (then) limited quantities of Adesuwa and no one could tell me anything. A few weeks later I saw the notification that Adesuwa would soon be released in other colors and a shorter length. I hadn’t received my white Adesuwa yet and I was already drooling over the yellow version and black mini version.
I didn’t know that there would be other colors when I purchased my dress during the initial Adesuwa release. Would having all the Adesuwa options available been better for my decision making? I’m not sure. I don’t know if I would have bought the dress in a different color if they were all available at the same time. There’s just something about feeling like you’ve missed out on what could have been. But you know what they say, if you love something, buy it in every color.
Truly, Kai Collective knows how to make high quality, fashion forward pieces. So it should come at no surprise that I also wanted the other color ways and styles. For me, the versatility, quality and customer experience you get from Kai Collective transcends the price point (and any hurt feelings!).
Live abundantly,
Bethany
